Finally, contract has been signed and work is well underway and by the end of summer my book entitled "Waves with Power-Law Attenuation" Waves in Attenuating Media with Power-Law Characteristics" should be ready from my point of view as author. The book will be issued in the ASA Press (Acoustical Society of America) series of Springer in 2019, hopefully.

The introduction covers Emmy Noether's connection between symmetries and conservation laws as well as Hooke's law (1660). Then Newtonian viscosity as expressed in his Principia from 1687 is introduced as well as its generalization to fractional viscosity. That's one of the main origins of power laws. Another source is fractal geometry as illustrated by the vascular tree of the kidney.
